Balance is a huge part of self-care. |
"Self-care" is often promoted as bubble baths, candles & massages--spa day activities--but that's only one minor aspect of it. True self-care seeks to reduce reduce or eliminate the need to escape from your everyday life by actually improving it. It's about putting your basic needs ahead of the comfort & convenience of others & seeking to balance your desires with those of others at least some of the time. Women tend to struggle with this as do overworked, underpaid Americans in general. The result can be an out-of-balance life spent catering to others without fair compensation or even a 'thank you' for your time, leading to exhaustion, resentment & other unnecessary hard feelings. This is neither good for you nor an efficient way to approach your work life.
In this series I'll lay out some of my key self-care philosophies, from the boundaries I set in my relationships to my financial mantras to personal health choices & my "mottos" for life. Some will be uplifting while others will be blunt & maybe even a little offensive--all will be from the ❤. Feel free to take what you like & shitcan the rest, and definitely share your own! I wanna know how my readers be living.
