"Palestine Doesn't Exist": The Dehumanization of a People

How quaint.  Colonizers using dehumanization to make killing easier, just as every warring nation has done since the beginning of time.  This is the core strategy of Israeli propaganda, claiming that Palestine and its people aren't real.  Palestinians are referred to as "Arabs" and the land they are indigenous to is called "Judea and Samaria".  That makes it easier to push them out of their homes and the land that's been passed down through families for centuries.

This strategy is discussed in depth in the documentary Israelism which features the stories of Jews who've become disillusioned after taking the "birthright" trip to Israel.  They claim that they're so propagandized they truly do not know Palestinian people exist until they find out for themselves by traveling there or speaking to them in other settings.  It's one thing to engage in dehumanization during wartime (as the U.S. has done with slurs like "gooks" and "Japs" during the Vietnam War and WWII, respectively) but to build a nation on this sort of brainwashing is another thing entirely.  Especially when you've built it smack dab in the middle of your "enemy's" territory.

Palestine--and Palestinians--Exist

Palestine is recognized as a country and sovereign state throughout the world, with only a quarter of the planet not acknowledging their existence as a nation.  (Many of this quarter include other colonizer countries like the U.S., Canada and European nations).  Even if it wasn't its own unique country, the people who have lived there for millennia are quite real, as real as you and I.

How would you feel if invaders plopped themselves down in the middle of your country and said "This belongs to us now.  It was promised to us 3,000 years ago by a holy text WE wrote.  You don't exist"?  And then they started taking land and killing men, women and children by the thousands while the rest of the world just sat idly by?  And then when members of the resistance fought back in whatever menial way they could, the invaders used that as justification to bomb hospitals, apartment buildings, zoos, refugee camps, schools, daycare centers & other vital civilian infrastructure?  Finally, when the world tired of the invading nation's bullshit, they eased up a little on the people whose land they were on, only to expand outward and wage war on another nearby place that had nothing to do with the conflict?

I imagine you wouldn't like it too much.  I know I wouldn't.  Keep in mind that Israel has been illegally occupying the West Bank since 1968, yet not a single nation has had the balls to do anything about it.  Why is that?  What do these folks have on us that prevents an all-out war from popping off to stop their war criminal behavior?  We've used moral arguments to engage other countries in war, from fighting "communism" to targeting the Taliban and their inhuman treatment of women.  Why is the "international community" silent when it comes to the slaughter of so many innocent people in the most densely populated place on Earth?

Big yikes.

Israel's Contribution to the World:  Spying

Biting the nation that feeds them

Unlike China which makes the bulk of the West's goods, Israel has not given the U.S. or any other nation a single thing in the way of exports or services.  Their main industry is spying.  Recall the whole Pegasus spyware scandal a few years back?  That was only the tip of a very big iceberg.  Israeli spies have been closely linked to the 9/11 attacks and employed by the likes of Harvey Weinstein (Black Cube) when trying to discredit his accusers.  And most recently, there's this.  That's to say nothing of the Epstein saga ("he belongs to intelligence" -- Alex Acosta).  This is just the stuff we know about.  Yet instead of investigating further or telling them to knock it tf off, our leaders shrug their shoulders and allow this foreign nation to engage in blatant widespread surveillance of American citizens & leaders.  And U.S. officials don't stop there, threatening to revoke student Visas and expel foreign students for peacefully protesting Israel's actions in Palestine.  The question is why?

I can only imagine the dirt they have on our leaders due to their advanced spy capabilities.  Blackmail truly is used to keep politicians in check, at least by this little nation of 10 million.  A Nation which, disturbingly enough, has historically given support to Hamas--the very enemies they claim to be fighting now.  If you still believe this has anything to do with "freedoms" or Muslims/Christians/Jews, you're not paying attention.  While it's unlikely Israel will be dissolving and dispersing, they also have no right to keep expanding.  They must learn to live peacefully with surrounding nations like Lebanon and cease the taking of land and homes that rightfully belong to other people.  Within their own borders, they must stop the apartheid & second-class citizen treatment of Palestinian and Muslim citizens.  This is the bare minimum if true peace is the goal.

(Huge love to Simone Zimmerman, Norman Finkelstein and all the other conscientious Jews who have the heart and mind to think critically about the lies they've been fed.  When I say "they", I mean the Israeli government and those who support Zionism, not Jews as a whole.  This was never about a religion or ethnic group on either side.  It's about behavior.  Or as MLK would say, "content of character").
